Poppadom Pictures is a neighbourhood film club that combines the best in world cinema and children’s films with food and an opportunity to socialise. It’s run by a group of local volunteers and is supported by Film Oxford. Everybody is welcome!
To ‘join’ the club just email us at poppadom.pictures [at] gmail.com and ask to be added to the list. If you’d like to bring along some friends or tell your colleagues about us we’d be delighted – it’s not exclusive to Howard Street residents – it just grew out of an idea after a Howard St. street party.
Our film evenings are usually – but not always – on the first Friday of the month at Film Oxford, 54 Catherine Street, Oxford OX4 3AH. That’s on the corner of Howard Street and Catherine Street.

As the terms of our licence don’t allow us to advertise publicly this is the best way to find out about our screenings and any special events.
Vegetarian curry (served between the children’s and adults’ films) is supplied by the Everest Nepalese. Margherita pizza from Caprino’s is usually available for children.
The food break usually starts around 6.15 or 6.30, depending on how long the children’s film is. We’ll email details before each event.

Why do we do this?
Because we love watching films, eating delicious food cooked by somebody else and having a chance to get to know our neighbours. It’s also a great way to take small children ‘out to a film’ where they can watch along with other kids in a relaxed setting and it doesn’t cost the earth. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.
We now are members of the BFI’s Into Film, a club which offers lots of ideas and activities for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19 who are interested in film. If you would like to become a member come along to a screening and ask for information on how to join.
